tBLOG - They're All Arselickers!: "I'm here to stay! Friday 11.26.04 [1:40 pm] Fair dinkum, I'm getting majorly shat off with all these predictions about my imminent political demise. Like, here, Michael Costello (who I'm sure shares the bastard genes of his knobheaded namesake) attempts a bit of Pythonesque whackiness with a piece describing yours truly as a dead parrot. Memo to Mike: Mate, I'm the funny cunt. I'll do the gags, alright? (Also it's pretty ironic that you're calling me a deceased bird considering your a bloody rooster. And you're parroting the sketch...) But anyway, the rant is far-out fucking bizarre, fair dinkum. Take this bit: And it has emerged from careful analysis of public and private polling that Latham seems to have a politically terminal problem with women, who simply find him scary. How wrong is that? What about all that gushing from arty babes like Rachel Ward and Toni Collette? If focus group research shows that sheilas find me 'scary' there's a perfectly rational explanation: They're just struggling with their own libidistical desires. The mere mention of my name makes them hot and bothered big time, but they don't dare admit it in public. So they end up getting all trembly and that. Remember Jennifer Hawkins and her slip up? (See 'Skirt', here.) It's like that - but on a pan-national scale. The rant includes a shitload of other crap which I won't bother responding to. But to his basic charge that I am a liability I'll say this: If my character had anything to do with our loss, it's only because the public didn't get to know the real me. Give it time, and Aussies will realise I'm a real fun guy with an infectious personality. I'll grow on them, and get right under their skin eventually. Just you wait and see... posted by: MarkL | 1 comments (view/add) StaticLink eSend"

The Australian: A miracle in play [September 25, 2004]: "With a fortnight left, the big question of the campaign -- who is Mark Latham? -- is fading into the realisation that there are several Lathams and they will not be reconciled by voting day. Latham is a straight talker but a political elusive -- tribalist or globalist, populist or traditionalist, larrikin or family man, consulter or authoritarian, insider or outsider. He is all of these and more. One guise disappears into another, only to re-emerge. Indeed, he has a different voice depending on whether he speaks from his heart or his head."
Nicola Roxon and Mark Latham - Women s Policy Australian Labor Party A Federal Labor Government will ensure that women have in front of them real choices and real opportunities to help them at various points in their lives as well as their families..snip.. the importance of health services – we discussed that on the couches here. The fact that Australian women, over their life time, use Medicare services 50 per cent more than men is a sign of the value of Medicare and the fact that women all around the country are very concerned about its current status and want a Labor Government to improve the provision of universal health services as much as possible. We are doing that with our plan to save bulk-billing. We believe, by investing in bulk-billing, we can increase the national rate from 68 to 80 per cent, where it used to be. We’ll have a plan for investing in hospitals. We’ve also announced our commitment for a National Dental Program – again, it’s women who mention the paucity of dental services more than men.
I do not want to see Brisbane win four in a row my money is on Port Adelaide to Win the Grand Final, which brings me to the election. I predict Labour to win, regardless of the pollsters and pundits. I just do not believe the Coalition is going to get up and win this. The people like Mark Latham, especially us girls. At Backpageshad this reaction to the latest ACNielsen poll in The Age and Sydney Morning Herald. "Alright, Nielsen is out. And it's ugly. Real ugly. There's no getting around an 8 point spread. It's bad news. But not unambiguously so, even if it comes on top of yesterday's bad Morgan phone poll. The guts is that the LNP is ahead 54/46 on the 2pp and 50/36 on the primary. That's a beyond-margin-of-error 8 point spread. Perhaps Labor is stuffed. If this poll was an actual vote, it would be the biggest LNP primary since '75 and 2pp since '77." This contrasts with a Newspoll earlier in the week. Gut instinct is not to buy the Nielson poll. It is not reflective of talk in the office, friends having a chat on the street, nor at the dinner table and BBQ predictions, which differs that, the pendulum has swung towards Labor.

I have a dream. In the early hours of this morning, dreaming yours truly was sound asleep to be awoken by Mark Latham's arms around me in my bed and whom do they belong to? Mark Latham, and I'm all for this, thinking this is cool, he looks really sexy "Bring it on!” Dream wise this a surprising development unless you are Mrs. Latham. What would Jung have to say on this? "It's because you are so excited that Election has been called" "You have a desire for power and therefore go to bed with whom you see perceive as powerful.” Maybe, this analysis is correct, but what if my subconscious is really thinking Mark Latham's Labour is going to do us over? Does it mean predictions of the interest rates rising? No, economists state they will remain the same. It is interesting that if I had the same dream about Peter Costello one would perceive I was suicidal, seeing no future at all. What this dream has done is open these eyes this morning to have a good look at Marky-boy and to see how sexy this person is.
